A coronary angiography gets recommended by your doctor when he suspects presence of blockages in coronary arteries. It is also ordered in event of a heart attack to help the cardiologist gauge the damage caused to heart muscle.
Points to be observed and kept in mind in the phase prior to undergoing a coronary angiography are as follows:
The patient is put under observation for few hours post surgery and the heart and pulse rate are checked constantly. If no complications are found, the patient is discharged the same day. If doctor feels the need to keep patient under observation, the patient is asked to stay back. Any cardiac procedure is a crucial one, so do not take it lightly. Follow the doctor's instructions diligently. Drink plenty of water to flush out the contrast material from your kidneys used during the test. Do not drive or perform activities that are likely to put pressure on the heart. Do not forget to schedule an appointment with your cardiologist at the earliest post undergoing angiography for follow-up.
