Coronary Angiography (CAG) is a diagnostic measure used to examine your heart condition. If your doctor suspects any abnormalities in your heart, coronary angiography helps him/her decide treatment measure to fix these problems. CAG detects the presence of any blockage or narrowing in your coronary arteries.
If you show the following signs in your health condition, your doctor may ask you to undertake CAG:
Coronary Angiography procedure is carried out under the influence of local anesthesia. Angiography process is combined with cardiac catheterization. A contrast material is passed through your coronary blood vessels. An incision is made in the arm to pass the catheter through. The catheter is then navigated towards the cardiovascular region. Once it reaches the cardiac area, the contrast material is released in the blood stream. When this material comes in contact with blood, X-rays are used to capture the internal pictures. These images helps the doctor to find the location and size of blockages within your arteries. To complete the angiography procedure, it takes around an hour.
After the angiography surgery, you may have to stay back at the hospital under medical observation. You must notify your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, prior to the surgery process.
As you age, your body organs starts becoming weak. Heart is one of those organs that can develop co-lateral damage. Any abnormalities in its functionalities can require immediate medical attention. At such times, you must visit your nearest doctor or cardiologist to fix such problems. Early dealing with minor heart issues can prevent occurrence of the major risks and complications.
