A normal delivery happens when the baby takes birth through the vaginal canal. This process is very tiresome for a pregnant woman, but it prevents future health problems in her. Other process to give birth to her baby is by C-section operation.
A normal delivery occurs when the baby exits your body through the birth canal. This process is followed by the placenta exit. Women understand the time of delivery when they experiences labor. Labor is a series of progressive contractions of the uterus that result in dilation of the cervix and efface. This helps the baby move forward towards the vaginal canal.
Pregnant mother can experience labor two weeks ago or after the estimated delivery date. Exact trigger for the onset of labor is unknown.
Every woman experiences labor differently, but some signs of labor are common and these include:
Slight bleeding – A small amount of mucus, slightly mixed with blood, may expel from the vagina.
Contractions – The uterine muscle spasm will occur at intervals of around 10 minutes and this may signify that labor has begun. With the progress in labor, these spasms will become more significant and severe.
Rupture of the amniotic sac – If pregnant ladies experience amniotic fluid leaking out from their vagina, they must visit their doctor as early as possible. Most women go into labor within hours of the amniotic sac (water bag) breaking. But, if labor does not start after rupturing of the water bag, doctor can give you medications to induce labor. This step is important to prevent further delivery complications.
During the delivery process, doctor will assist the baby's head out of the birth canal as soon as it becomes visible. Once the head is delivered out, doctor will apply a gentle downward traction on the head to deliver the shoulders, followed by rest of the baby's body. Labor stops after the baby is delivered.
After the delivery procedure, women feel fatigue and they are asked to rest well. Also, the baby's weight is weighed. After some period of time post-delivery, your doctor will check the baby's health as well as the mother's health to check whether any medical care is required.
