Pain experienced during bowel movement, blooded stools, anal discharge of yellowish nature, an itching sensation in anal area are few signs and symptoms of anal fissure. Surrounding anal skin gets damaged too when person is suffering from fissures.
Fissurectomy is an outpatient procedure and the patient can return to his routine the same day. Although, he has to wait in the hospital till the anesthetic's effect fades out. Few tips of preparation for undergoing this surgery are as follows:
During a fissurectomy, the doctor gives the patient a spinal or general anesthetic. That may make you unconscious and prevent you from feeling any pain. Thereafter the affected region of anal area is removed. Wounds if any are sealed or stitched up.
In the recovery phase, the person needs to keep his anal area infection free and exercise hygiene properly. The wound needs to be taken care and kept clean with help of soap and water. Also, diet needs to be high on fiber and fluids so as to ease the bowel movements and digestion. Pain-killers that may cause constipation need to be avoided in event of severe pain.
