Piles in simple terms are clump formations inside anal canal which are masses of tissues containing blood vessels and muscles. These masses are present even in healthy human beings. It is only when they get inflamed that they need surgical care. Haemorrhoidectomy is the surgical solution for piles management. A low fiber diet, wrong posture, obesity and an overall sedentary lifestyle is responsible for hemorrhoid formation.
Hemorrhoids are classified into 2 types: External and Internal
Internal hemorrhoids are further classed into following 4 types:
Grade 1 – Invisible inflammation in the anal lining are usual characteristics of this type of hemorrhoids.
Grade 2 – These type of hemorrhoids are larger in comparison to the first type . They become visible only when the person passes stools.
Grade 3 – These types of hemorrhoids are also termed as 'prolapsed hemorrhoids.' They develop outside the anus as opposed to the first 2 types.
Grade 4 – These hemorrhoid types are large in size and remain partially out of anal lining. This type can only be treated surgically and requires medical intervention.
External hemorrhoids are also known as perianal hematoma. Lumps of this type are very small and develop close to the anus. They are very painful if blood clot develops inside the hemorrhoid.
